Our hand-picked staff have been chosen specifically for their passion and vision as well as their love of providing outstanding service to clients. Every single member of our team is dedicated to creating the ultimate event and to meeting every single one of our clients’ requirements.
So, who makes up the My Place team?
Veronica is the creator and owner of My Place. Having trained as a fashion designer and then working as a buyer for a well-known high-end high street fashion retailer, she soon realised that her true passions lay in décor. She made a move into the home décor industry in 2005, starting up her own interior design business which rapidly went from strength to strength. Two years later, she was asked as a favour by a friend to arrange the décor for her wedding, and after the big day was an astounding success, she found that suddenly her wedding décor services were in high demand. So much so, in fact, that she decided to set up her own business solely dedicated to event décor – and so My Place was born. Veronica still loves seeing the joy on her clients’ faces when they walk into their venue and see the results of her hard work and hopes that she will continue to derive such enjoyment from it for many years to come.
Laura is My Place’s creative manager. Having graduated with a first-class honour’s degree in Hospitality from the University of Keele, Laura was delighted to be offered an internship at one of London’s premier event planning companies. After a year, she was offered a full-time role, progressing from creative assistant to team manager within just three years. However, she was always hungry for a new challenge, and when she met Veronica at an industry networking event, she realised that joining the My Place team would be just the challenge she was looking for. She loves creating exciting proposals tailored to each clients’ unique needs and loves nothing more than working closely with clients to bring their vision to life.
Jonah is My Place’s Production Manager – a veteran in the event industry having had 12 years in a production managerial role at a large-scale performance venue before taking up his position with My Place. Jonah has been working behind the scenes for his whole working life, having started out building scenery for his local theatre. He has a comprehensive knowledge of custom scenery and is proud to manage a skilled event specialist team. He takes exceptional pride in paying close attention to even the tiniest details.
Karl is the newest member of the My Place team and is proud to be a trainee scenic builder, under the watchful eye of Production Manager, Jonah Arnold. Karl’s love of creativity began at an early age when he worked alongside his parents – stalwarts of their local amateur dramatics company – to create set for more than 10 plays every year. He soon took over responsibility for designing set for the youth theatre group’s productions while working alongside the set designer for the adult shows. Having studied theatrical backstage arts and art and design at college, he was delighted to win an apprenticeship with My Place. Having recently completed his initial qualifications, he is looking forward to learning more from the creative team and to a bright future with the company.
Orla is Jonah’s right-hand woman, and mentor to Karl. She is a scenic builder with 10 years of experience in the industry. Having cut her teeth in the theatre, she has mastered the skills of painting, carving and carpentry which she now puts to good use in the special events world. In her spare time, she can’t resist carrying on her work. She designs sets for local theatrical productions for two different amateur dramatics societies.
Patricia is My Place’s leading events specialist who takes great pride in her outstanding customer service. Before joining the company, she was the events manager for a large city centre hotel, and so she has an excellent knowledge of what goes into creating the perfect event. Patricia leads the two other members of her team under Laura’s watchful eye, liaising with venues and coordinating suppliers for a seamless experience.
Dermott comes from a background of working on cruise ships. As a dining room team leader, he has an eagle eye for detail and a precision that stood him in good stead for his role with My Place. No item will be out of place with Dermott on the team.
Happy is the man whose job is also his hobby! Clem is an event specialist with skills in large sets, carpentry and flooring. He loves event production in all its forms and is always delighted when an event goes without a flaw.
